Director Laura Thompson is accepting applications for her internship program. Laura Thompson is the Vice-Chair of the JRSWCD and the Director and Chair of the Legislative Outreach Committee. Students interested in the environment, conservation, or government should apply.
Details:
- Volunteer virtual internship opportunity for ages 14+
- Work at least 5 hours a week for at least 3 months (60 hours total).
- Must have access to a computer and phone.
- No experience necessary.
Responsibilities may include:
- Help create content and run our Facebook clubs – The James River Garden Club, Farm Club, and Green Team.
- Help on projects that involve agriculture, the environment, politics, conservation, and natural resources.
- Promote the Agriculture Cost Share Program.
- Promote the Virginia Conservation Assistance Program.
- Speak at virtual community events.
- Draft Newsletter content.
- Create a directory of Virginia organizations providing resources to land stewards.
- Lobby agriculture and conservation legislation.
- Watch videos and write posts for social media.
- Attend weekly meetings with the internship team.
- Reviewing policy.
- Create your own projects.
