Brianna Morring is the District Manager for the James River Soil and Water Conservation District, where she has been leading administrative, financial, and operational efforts since May 2017. Born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, she grew up hiking and camping with her family; an experience that sparked her lifelong love for the outdoors.

She went on to study Environmental Studies at Christopher Newport University and has been committed to conservation work ever since. Known for her leadership and passion for natural resource conservation, she plays a key role in supporting Chesterfield and Prince George communities.

Outside of work, she enjoys long-distance hiking, knitting, and making her own jewelry. These activities reflect her adventurous spirit and creative side.

With a strong background in environmental management and a deep commitment to conservation, Brianna brings dedication to her work protecting Virginia’s natural resources. 

Patrick Powers

As the Agricultural Conservation Technician for the James River Soil and Water Conservation District, Patrick combines his commitment to natural resources with practical, hands-on work.

Patrick’s passion for the outdoors and conservation began in Raleigh, North Carolina. The third of four children, he spent his youth cooking elaborate meals, exploring the natural world, and playing sports. These activities fostered a lifelong love for food, family, and nature.

He holds a B.S. in Geological Science with a minor in Archaeology and is driven to blend his love of science with fieldwork. He also holds a Certificate of Natural Resources from Virginia Tech and is set to complete his Master’s in Natural Resources in spring 2026.

Outside of work, Patrick has numerous hobbies, including rock climbing, basketball, cooking, reading, and engaging in citizen science projects. His favorite weekend activities include going to the farmers market, hanging out by the James River, playing board games with friends, and learning new skills.

Anne Devine

Conservation Technician

Anne Devine is a Virginia native who grew up constantly curious about the outdoors and natural sciences. As a child, she was often found picking through a backyard creek or climbing trees to discover new bird nests.

She graduated with a degree in environmental science from the University of Mary Washington in 2020. She then spent time completing ecological research in New England and the upper Midwest before returning to her home state.

Anne’s love for sustainability and community led her to join the James River Soil and Water Conservation District in 2023 as the Conservation Technician, running the Virginia Conservation Assistance Program. She is certified in sustainable landscape design and maintenance as a Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional.

When she is not working, she enjoys camping and spending time outside with her pets.

Callie Moyers

Education and Outreach Coordinator

Callie Moyers serves as the Education and Outreach Coordinator for the James River Soil and Water Conservation District. In this position she is dedicated to bridging the gap between conservation information and the public. She strives to build connections with citizens and identify how they can weave sustainable practices into their everyday lives.

With dual degrees in Wildlife Conservation and Theatre Arts from Virginia Tech, Callie blends scientific knowledge with a creative approach to communication. She is currently pursuing a Master of Environmental Studies degree and was honored with an Excellence in Environmental Education Award from Virginia Association for Environmental Education.

Outside of work, Callie loves to attend local music festivals, explore antique shops, adventure through nature trails, and start (but rarely finish) her next artistic project. She is honored to be a part of this team and is excited to be a listening ear for members of the community interested in the environment.
